Description

Kishibori Shoyu (Soy Sauce)

720 ml (24.3 ounces) - Shodoshima Island, Japan

Same traditional, family-run manufacturing and fermentation process and location as the shoyu featured in "SALT FAT ACID HEAT" on Netflix with Samin Nosrat

First-pressed soy sauce entirely natural and brewed in a traditional process using the gift of nature - a mild climate and purse, clean air of Shodoshima Island in the Seto Islands off the coast of Japan. This Japanese artisan soy sauce contains only three ingredients: Soy, Wheat and Salt.  All carefully chosen, and then aged for 1 year in ancient cedar barrels before the actual pressing - giving this gourmet soy sauce a rich, full-bodied flavor.

JAPANESE KISHIBORI SHOYU SOY SAUCE is manufactured by Takesan Company. Takesan was established in early 20th century by Yoshiji Takebe and is one of only 14 members of the prestegious Shodoshima Shoyu Assocation, and is like the Shodoshima Island-based family-run shouyu brewer featured in the Netflix series "SALT FAT ACID HEAT". Shodoshima is located in the Seto Islands located between the main Japanese island of Honshu and neighboring Shikoku and has a 400-year-old history of artisan shoyu production.

Fine Soy Sauce
One of the finest soy sauce that I have ever had. Will purchase again.

Wonderful soy sauce
This is an artisan soy sauce that is more expensive than your off-the-shelf standard brands, and it's worth it. Very flavorful and smooth. Perfect for sushi.

Unbelievably good!
I saw this product on the Netflix show and thought that I'd like to try it as I got the feeling that it was special. I'm so very pleased I did. The quality is obvious and the depth of flavor is out of this world. I will not buy any other soy sauces now, I'm hooked.

So excited to try this ...
And it did not disappoint! This soy sauce is yummy, and salty enough that a little goes a long way. Such a deep, rich flavor ... I will order again, and again, and again!

Exquisite
My daughter introduced me to this soy sauce last Christmas because I'm a bit of a soy sauce aficionado. Now it is the only kind I buy. Extraordinary.

shoyu for speciaal uses
The Kishibori is a fine shoyu, but I believe there are better ftom Chef Shop, but at a higher price. We did a blind taste test with three sophisticated eaters - I ran the test. The 4 shoyu tested were (1) Haku 'Sakura' (2) Haku 'Mizunara' (3) Kishibori 750 ml (4) San-J Organic. Results: Tasters in order liked 2, 4, 1, 3.. The Sakura however ranked high for perhaps a sprcial use, it is distincly different. The San-J and the Kishibori were similar and thought too salty and had a monochromatic taste, but still good. Personally, I'm buying more Mizunara with its broader profile and less harsh beginning - really good stuff.
