Avocado Toast Recipe
serves 1
Adapted from the New York Times.
ingredients:
2 slices of toast - preferably whole wheat or a hearty Italian-style bread with a nice crust
1 ripe (hass) avocado - halves and pitted
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Flaky Sea Salt - -like Fossel River or Maldon
Half a lemon
Optional garnishes:
Poached or fried egg
Freshly sliced red chili peppers
Pickled onions or Hawkshead Red Onion Marmalade
Thinly sliced red onions
Roasted pumpkin seeds
Parsley or Cilantro - chopped
Instructions:
1. Toast two slices of bread to your liking
2. Romove pit from Avocado half, scoop out avocado separating it from the peel.
3. Top hot toast with drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of salt
4. Roughly smash avocado with a fork and place on top of toast - making sure to retain some larger avocado pieces
5. Sprinkly with salt and pepper to taste, and a squeeze of lemon over the top.
6. Add any garnishes you like
7. Cut in half, serve and eat immediately
