Typical Pecorino from the small Murtas dairy in the Gerri region of Sardinia. Classic 100% Sheep Milk Pecorino aged 12 months. Creamy texture even given its age, with a rustic rind and earthy, nuty, grassy notes. Good for grating and eating alone.

Murtas Diary was established in 1947 by Eligio Murtas.  Today it is run by Eligio's two sons and his grandchildren. The dairy is located in the rough and mountainous region of Gerrei on the island of Sardina - a region known for producing some of the best goat and sheep milk cheese. 

Murtas Dairy belongs to the "Consortium for the Protection of Sardianian Pecorino", who's mission is to safeguard the traditions in cheese production and to promote Sardinian Cheese throughout the world.
