These dark chocolate-covered cherries with Armagnac by Mademoiselle de Margaux are a revelation. Named "La Guinette," these grown-up indulgences are pitted griotte (morello) cherries dipped in Armagnac and then coated in rich, dark chocolate. The cherry's slightly tart fruitiness and the warmth of the Armagnac blend gorgeously with chocolate. This is what chocolate-covered cherries were always meant to be.

And if you like chocolate-covered cherries -- don't miss the chocolate-covered grapes. (See to the right!)

Thoughtful Stocking Stuffer
I purchased these with the intention to give these as stocking stuffers for family and gifts for a few coworkers. I of course bought one for myself. These cherries are so good, and of excellent quality. I love the fact that there’s no fondant or corn syrup in the center; this is what a chocolate covered cherry should be.

I’ve had these cherries several times before and they were so good I searched high and low to find them again. Boozy deliciousness

Wow!
I have to admit that I was going to complain a bit when I first opened the package. Once I took off the outer cellophane, there was sticky syrup all over the outside of the box which meant I had it all over my hands. I had to find a place to put it while I washed my hands so I started off a bit grumpy. But, then, I ate my first piece and I think fireworks actually went off....at least in my head! They are so scrumptious that before I knew it, I had a second piece in my mouth! It was hard to stop there! I literally could have eaten all nine pieces at one sitting! So, who cares if the syrup leaked out? I don't! The box I have is messy and sticky but I'm ordering my second box!

Beware of stem
I have a soft spot for boozy, chocolate-covered cherries, and these are the best I’ve ever had! One caveat is that the stems are plastic and therefore should not be eaten or put in the compost. Enjoy!
