Master Quinoa Recipe
Quinoa should always be rinsed in a fine sieve before cooking to remove the saponin on the outside of the grain- it is a natural bug repellant! If not rinsed off, it will impart a bitter flavor.
ingredients
1 1/2 cup quinoa
2 cups water
pinch of salt
directions:
1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil
2. Meanwhile rinse 1 1/2 cups of quinoa thoroughly until water is clear and drain well.
3. When the water comes to a boil, add the quinoa.
4. Lower to a simmer, for 15 to 20 minutes until most of the water is consumed.
5. Remove from the heat
6. Rake the top of the Quinoa and then deeper. If it is sticky stop and cover.
7. Let sit and cover with with wax paper for 30 minutes off the heat
8. Then fluff with a fork and eat as desired. Cooled or chilled this is a great pre-pared ingredient
Optional
Add about a tablespoon of oil to your pan and heat your spices, garlic, onions etc. and then add the quinoa to toast lightly for extra flavor. Then add the water and bring to a boil.
Seperately or in addition use vegetable stock or chicken stock to add body and flavor.
