Master Quinoa Recipe

Quinoa should always be rinsed in a fine sieve before cooking to remove the saponin on the outside of the grain- it is a natural bug repellant! If not rinsed off, it will impart a bitter flavor.

ingredients
1 cup quinoa
2 1/2 cups water
pinch of salt

directions:
1. Bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil 

2. Meanwhile rinse 1 cup of quinoa and drain well.

3. When the water comes to a boil, add the quinoa.

4. Lower to a simmer, for 10 to 15 minutes until most of the water is consumed.

5. Add a pinch or more of salt as you wish.


6. Let sit covered for 5 minutes off the heat.

7. Then fluff with a fork and eat as desired.

 Optional

Add about a tablespoon of oil to your pan and heat your spices, garlic, onions etc. and then add the quinoa to toast lightly for extra flavor. Then add the water and bring to a boil.

Seperately or in addition use vegetable stock or chicken stock to add body and flavor.
