Fried Apples Recipe

Ingredients

4 Apples cored, peeled and sliced into thin wedges

6 tablespoons butter

6 tablespoons dark Muscovado sugar

2 tablespoons demerra sugar

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1/2 cup apple cider

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon yuzu juice or lemon juice

Fried Apples Recipe


1. Combine the Dark Muscovado sugar, Demerara sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl

2. In a cast-iron skillet over medium heat melt 4 tablespoons of butter 

3. Add the apples, sugar mixture, and Yuzu juice

4. Stir to cover the apple slices entirely

5. Reduce the heat to low and cook the apples, stirring occasionally until you can stick a fork in it, them

6. Remove from the skillet, leaving any liquid and fond behind

7. Whisk the apple cider and cornstarch together in a bowl

8. Pour the apple cider mixture into the skillet and simmer until the liquid starts to thicken

9. Put the apples back into the skillet and stir to fully combine

10. Add the remaining butter and simmer to melt 

You want to achieve a caramel like consistency. 

Serve with ice cream or whipped cream or both if it is a holiday.
