The Grunt is a New England classic. Like a cobbler but cooked on top of heat and not in the oven. Perfect for camping!

The term "grunt" refers to a type of traditional American dessert that has its roots in New England. It is very similar to other fruit-based desserts such as cobblers, crisps, and slumps. Grunt is a simple and rustic dish that was popular among early American settlers, and it typically consists of stewed fruit topped with a sweet biscuit or dumpling dough.

For the filling:

1. In a cast iron skillet or Dutch oven put the water, sugar, yuzu juice, and cinnamon

2. Stir in the fruit

3. Bring to a gentle boil over medium low heat  - can take some time up to 30 minutes

To Make the dough:

1. In a large bowl sift and whisk the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt together

2. Add the butter and mix together with your finger tips

3. Add the buttermilk and stir in to make a dough

4. Make small scoops of dough using spoons and place the dough on top of the fruit mixture

5. Over low heat, cover and cook for about 15 minutes until the dough is cooked through

Serve fruit with a biscuit on top
