Basic Baked Beans Easy


A cast iron dutch oven or other, or oven proofed sauce pan.

2 cups dried beans 

1/2 cup dried mustard or 1/2 cup + a little more prepared mustard 

1/2 head garlic - cut the cloves into pieces 

1/2 diced onion

1/2 pound of bacon cutting slices in half 

2 tablespoons Col Pabst Malt Amber-Lager Worcestershire Sauce 

1/2 cup excellent maple syrup 

a couple of grinds of tellicherry peppercorns 


Easy Baked Bean Recipe

serves one for many many meals


#1: Soak beans overnight, change the water at least 3 times,

#2: Pre-heat oven to 300F. - Put beans in a heavy cast iron pan if you got it.

#3: Add onion, mustard, garlic and bacon.

#4: Cover with water. Depth of beans is the amount of water above the beans to cover. (Use your finger to measure the depth)

#5: Add maple syrup.

#6: Cook for a minimum 3 hours. 5 hours is better. Check at 1 hour to make sure there is enough water. Add water as needed to cover. A little liquid should remain when you pull it from the oven.

#7: You can add muscovado sugar sprinkled over the top for the last 30 minutes if you want a sweet top.
