Made-at-Origin Chocolate

Most chocolate travels halfway around the world before it ever becomes a bar. Cacao is grown in tropical climates—places like Ecuador, Madagascar, or Mexico—but for centuries, the transformation from bean to chocolate happened elsewhere. Farmers harvested the beans; factories in Europe or North America made the chocolate.

Made-at-origin chocolate changes that story.

These bars are crafted in the same country, often the same region, where the cacao is grown. The farmers, fermenters, and chocolate makers work close to the source, preserving the freshness of the beans and the integrity of their flavor. The result is chocolate that expresses its terroir—the climate, soil, and care that shape every bite—with exceptional clarity.

Choosing made-at-origin chocolate is more than a delicious decision. It’s a choice that supports local communities, sustainable livelihoods, and the evolution of cacao-growing regions into centers of true craft.

By making chocolate where the cacao grows, producers keep more of the value—and the artistry—in the country of origin. It means better pay for farmers, more local jobs, and shorter supply chains that reduce environmental impact.

We’ve always believed in knowing where our food comes from and in celebrating the people who make it. The makers behind our made-at-origin chocolate collection are small, independent producers who are re-imagining what chocolate can be. They roast, grind, and temper their bars close to the farms that grew the cacao, often working directly with the growers themselves.

These are chocolates that tell a story of connection: between land and maker, between craft and culture, and between the taste of place and the people who preserve it.

When you taste made-at-origin chocolate, you taste more than just cocoa—you taste the place itself. The floral notes of Panamanian cacao or the deep fruit of Mexican Jaguar, each bar reveals something new and beautiful.

For anyone who loves bean-to-bar chocolate, supporting ethical sourcing, and embarking on a flavor adventure, these bars offer something rare: chocolate that stays true to where it began.
