Made with cacao from ÖKO-Caribe in the Duarte province of the Dominican Republic, this bar shows off the kind of complexity that makes a well-made 70% chocolate so satisfying. Expect bright citrus, dried fruit, and nutty notes layered over a smooth, deeply chocolatey base. It has enough intensity for dark chocolate lovers, but with a rounded profile that makes it exceptionally easy to enjoy.

ÖKO-Caribe is based in Pimentel, in the heart of the Dominican Republic’s largest cacao-growing region. The company works closely with more than 150 small farmers, supporting them with training and organic certification while helping coordinate harvest and post-harvest practices. Growers are organized into local cooperatives, allowing freshly harvested cacao to reach the fermentation facility quickly—an important part of developing the clean, expressive flavor found in the finished chocolate.

The bar has also earned an impressive run of international recognition, including Bronze medals from the Academy of Chocolate in 2018, 2019, and 2020, Silver from the Singapore Chocolate Awards in 2019, and Silver from the Academy of Chocolate in 2023.
