We have hand selected/taste tested all of these tunas. And we like to test them all the time.

The ancient Greeks and Romans were among the first to value tuna for its size and taste. They are believed to have caught and consumed tuna as early as 2,000 years ago. Historical texts mention tuna being served at feasts, and its fishing was seen as a highly organized and important activity. The ancient Greeks even had a god of the sea, Poseidon, who was associated with fish like tuna.

Medieval and Japanese Tradition:
By the Middle Ages, tuna continued to be highly valued in Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. In Japan, tuna became particularly significant by the Edo period (17th century). During this time, tuna was recognized for its importance in sushi and sashimi dishes, especially in regions like Osaka and Edo (modern-day Tokyo). The popularity of tuna as a raw delicacy, especially the bluefin tuna, grew significantly.

There are 15 species of tuna, which belong to the family Scombridae. These species are primarily found in warm and temperate oceans around the world.
