Made from Styrian pumpkinseeds, this Pumpkin seed oil has an intense nutty taste and is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids.
It makes a great pumpkin seed oil salad dressing. The typical Styrian dressing is made of pumpkin seed oil and apple cider vinegar. The oil is also used sometimes for desserts atop or vanilla ice cream - giving it a nutty taste - flavor reminiscent of the nuts you would put on top of your ice cream sundae. Add a little chocolate sauce, and you are ready to go!
Styrian pumpkin seed oil is considered a real delicacy in Austria and Slovenia, and few drops are added to pumpkin soup and other winter dishes; adds a nice and unusual punch. Use it to finish roasted winter squash or as a dipping sauce for butternut fries. If you are looking to buy pumpkin seed oil as a cooking oil, however, know that cooking destroys its essential fatty acids and will cause the oil to turn bitter.
There are claims that the phytonutrients in Styrian pumpkin seed oil help prevent and treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Our favourite cocoa
I have 8 varieties of cocoa at home -- red cocoa, black cocoa, natural cocoa, and several high-end specialty cocoas (Barry Extra Brut, Valrhona, Guittard, Ghirardelli...). My family goes through enormous quantities of cocoa powder -- for hot cocoa, brownies, chocolate cakes, cookies... and this is by far our favourite. It has depth, complexity, and richness. While the specialty cocoas are excellent, I find they can sometimes be quite bitter, lack richness or body. This one is always perfect for whatever we are making. And being in Canada, I go to great lengths to buy this cocoa -- that should tell you how much we love it! - Monika
