Ingredients & Details

cocoa butter, sugar, skim milk powder, whole milk powder, ceremonial-grade organic matcha

60 gram bar - Austin, Texas

This is matcha white chocolate for people who care about the matcha as much as the chocolate.

KESSHŌ makes this bar with Peruvian cocoa butter and first-harvest matcha from Uji, Kyoto, one of Japan’s most celebrated tea-growing regions. The matcha is stone-milled and used in the same year it was harvested, helping preserve the fresh, sweet, grassy character that can fade as matcha ages.

That freshness makes a noticeable difference. Creamy white chocolate softens matcha’s vegetal intensity while allowing its distinctive character to remain clear: sweet grass, a subtle seaweed-like savoriness, and a gentle toasted-rice note. The result is rich and silky, but unmistakably matcha-forward rather than simply sweet white chocolate tinted green.

KESSHŌ describes the matcha as ceremonial grade while also pointing out an important distinction: “ceremonial grade” is not a legally defined quality standard in Japan. More meaningful are the specifics behind the tea itself—Uji origin, first harvest (ichibancha), stone milling, and same-year use.

For matcha lovers, those details make this an unusually thoughtful chocolate bar. For everyone else, it’s a delicious introduction to what fresh, high-quality matcha can taste like when paired with creamy white chocolate.
