This bar builds on the elegance of Ara Chocolat’s single-origin Huallaga cacao and adds a distinctly French twist. The base is 74% dark chocolate made with cacao from Peru’s Huallaga Valley, with pieces of dried Agen prunes studded across the back of the bar. These prunes come directly from farmers in the Lot-et-Garonne region, long considered the prune capital of France.
When I taste this bar, the connection between the chocolate and the fruit becomes clear almost immediately. Huallaga cacao already carries subtle nutty and dried-fruit notes, and the Agen prunes amplify those flavors beautifully. The result is rich and fruit-forward, with a jammy sweetness that melts into the deep cacao character.
I love the balance of this bar's flavor and texture. The chocolate provides structure and depth, while the prunes add brightness and a soft chew that keeps each bite interesting. It’s a combination that feels both comforting and surprisingly refined.
