Cornichons - France

Cornichon is the French word for gherkin, a small variety of cucumber. Pickled to a crunchy-tender texture, they are the traditional European accompaniment to pâté and cold meats, and in Switzerland, fondue or Raclette nearly always arrives accompanied with the little pickles.

Suggestions for Serving

Wonderful tucked into a baguette sandwich, they are also perfect for snacking, and they're the key ingredient to truly delicious tartar sauce. Serve with grilled or smoked fish for a light summer supper, try chopping them and adding them to pasta salads, potato salads, tuna and chicken salads for a delectable crunch.
