Smoked Gouda Dates Recipe

Yield:  4 appetizer servings


Ingredients:

12 Essential Pantry Medjool Dates, pitted

2 ounces smoked Gouda cheese

1 small narrow stick artisan dry salami (optional)

 

Preheat oven to 400°F

Directions:

1. With a sharp paring knife, cut the dates open lengthwise and remove the pits.  

2. Cut 12 small cubes from the smoked gouda that will easily fit inside each date.  Thinly slice 12 round slices of salami. 

4. Stuff each date with a thin slice of the salami, then top with a cube of smoked gouda cheese. Press seam back together to seal in the cheese. 

5. Place dates on a sheet pan, seam side up and bake for approximately 8 minutes, until cheese is melted.  

6. Remove from the oven and let cool approximately 5 minutes before serving.   

7. Caution once dates are come out of the oven, the sugar is very hot, along with the cheese, so be careful and make sure to cool slightly before eating.
