Deviled Dates Recipe
These bacon-wrapped dates with almonds are always a big hit in the Spanish Tapas Cooking Class. So easy and so perfect! Make sure to invite over a crowd when making them, or you might find you've eaten the whole batch yourself!
Ingredients
18 Medjool dates, pitted
36 Marcona almonds
6 slices Applewood-smoked bacon, or other thinly-sliced bacon, cut crosswise into thirds
Pomegranate molasses, for drizzling
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Remove the pit. Needle nose pliers work best.
3. Stuff 1 to 2 Marcona almonds in the cavity of each date.
4. Wrap one segment of bacon around each date and secure the bacon with a toothpick.
5. Arrange dates, bacon seam down and 1 inch apart, in a shallow baking pan or sheet tray lined with parchment paper.
6. Bake 10 minutes, then turn dates over with tongs and bake until bacon is crisp, about 10 minutes more.
7. Drain on a paper towel. Drizzle with Pomegranate Molasses and serve warm.
CAUTION - dates with their sugar are hot, be sure to cool sufficiently before eating
