Indonesian Peanut Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Rice bran oil for pan

1 large shallot minced, about a 1/4 cup

1 clove of garlic, minced, about 1 teaspoon

3/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1/3 peanut butter

1/2 cup coconut milk

2 tablespoon ketjap manis

2 teaspoons muscovado sugar

2 tablespoons Nishiji Sudachi Syrup

pinch of rice flour

pinch of salt

1. Heat a small amount of oil in a small saucepan over medium heat

2. Add shallots and sauté for 2 minutes 

3. Reduce heat to medium low and add garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté for an additional minute 

4. Whisk in the Peanut Butter, Coconut Milk, Ketjap Manis, Muscovado Sugar

5. Slowly add up to 1/2 cup water while whisking to smooth the sauce out to a consistency you like.

6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes whisking occasionally.

7. Add Sudachi syrup and stir in.

Add salt and if needed to firm up add a pinch of flour.

Can be used hot or at room temperature
