Description

In 2003 or thereabouts we had a launch party at our newly just moved into shortlived location on the now hot neighborhood of Lake Union. Our building is gone, and only a few fond memories there.

One grest memory was the book launch party for Marian's book "Cooking for Comfort".  No pretty pictures, no fancy names or dishes, just plain easy to read well spaced words and lines. Open the book to anywhere and you will find something you want to make, eat, or remember. If you don't know it you will want to try it. If you do, it makes you want to try hers or make yours.

We made some of the most "mundane"  recipes because the coobook is filled with them. Macaroni and Cheese (pg 105), Hummus (pg 35), and Quiche Lorraine (pg 22). And the response from the revelers was overwhelming. This is the best, it's like being at "home",  just like my Mom makes it, but better.

It's the food we want to eat everyday, except maybe Friday night. It is indeed comfort food! It's the right size cookbook in your hand and easy to use just like the recipes.

As the New York Times food critic, Marian Burros ate and tried more food of all kinds in a month than the average person might in years!
