White rice is out, and heritage grains are all the rage. Just as independent farms throughout the US are working to resurrect ancient grains we thought were lost to the American diet all together, we are coming up with new and delicious ways to bring them to our dinner table.
Many people know they need up upgrade their plate -- adding color and roughage, as well as flavor. Chef Lauren will not only show you a few seasonal fabulous recipes that include grains like Black Nile Barley, Red Quinoa, Emmer, Spelt, Borwn Rice, Millet and Einkorn, and will give you enough information that you can then mix and match your favorite grain with your favorite recipes. From breakfast to dinner, people are realizing that whole grains are a necessary and delicious addition to a healthy diet - and they are not just for vegetarians. Four grains, four delicious and easy recipes, four techniques to get it right every time.
Make whole, healthy, flavorful grains a delicious part of your families daily cooking and eating. Forget the white rice or pasta side -- add a little whole grain pizzazz to your life today.
Recipes include: Barley Risotto, Brown Rice, Feta and Swish Chard Salad, Emmer with Walnut Oil and Lemon, Millet Crepes, and Quinoa Pudding.
You will enjoy the foods created in class, plus appetizers, wine and lots of good conversation.
