Poschiavo Spaghetti Pasta - 1.1 pounds - Switzerland

Produced by: Molino e Pastificio Poschiavo

About Molino e Pastificio Poschiavo
Molino (mill) Poschiavo was originally established by Hans Guler in the mid-19th century and housed in a building originally belonging to the convent of the Augustnian nuns of Poschiavo, Switzerland. Around 1900, Hans' son-in-law, Samuel Fisler, returned from Rio de Janeiro, where he had been living since he was a young boy. He originally came back to Poschiavo to visit his mother, and on that trip decided to stay in Poschiavo permanently, a take over the mill operations.

Soon there after, as the construction of the Bernina railway line and power plants brought thousands of workers to Poschiavo, and along with them the need for additional food, Samuel decided to expand the mill operations. And, in 1911, he decided to add a small factory for making pasta - thus changing to name of the company to Molino e Pasticificio Poschiavo.

Samuel died in 1929, and the company is now managed by the fourth descendant of Samuel Fisler, David Fisler. The mill still occupies the original historic buildings - nestled beautifully amongst the Swiss foothills. And, in March, 2011, they retooled their machinery, and started to produce their now trademark long (16-inch plus) pastas in the blue wrap. Beautiful pasta in a beautiful wrap. Pasta never looked this good!
