Marinated Flank Steak Recipe

An Asian marinade for meat from A terrific, tangy marinade for grilled meat or chicken. We love this marinaded flank steak with a simple plate of rice and a green vegetable.

2/3 cup KISHIBORI SHOYU (soy sauce)
2/3 cup ketjap manis (sweet soy)
1/4 cup muscovado sugar
1 tablespoon ketchup
8 slices of ginger (minced)

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon of Villa Jerada Urfa Biber or Red Pepper Mix
Flank steak or other beef cut that you prefer

1. Whisk the soy with the ketjap manis and add the muscovado sugar.

2. Add the remaining ingredients, whisking together.

3. Add the chile flakes or any pepper flakes to the mix. Doesn't really add a lot of heat, but does add a kick to the flavor

4. "Fork" the meat. Punch a bunch of holes with a fork on both sides.

5. Place the meat in a zip lock bag and pour the marinade in. Massage meat and work the marinade in. Let rest in refrigerator for a couple of hours. Turning and massaging a couple of times before cooking.

6. Broil the steak in a pan covered with aluminum foil. (a sticky mess burned on to the pan is not what you want to clean later!) Or Grill.
