Description

California Coriander Honey - 9 oz jar

Created by bees in the Sacramento Valley of California -- this specialty honey is nothing like the wild European coriander honeys I have tasted before.

Spicy with cardamom and ginger, with a hint of lime, this gourmet honey has a unique-ness and kick that will not disappoint. Coriander is used extensively in California as an inter-crop plant to help control aphid infestations, especially in the lettuce fields.

When intercropped with the lettuce and allowed to flower, they attract beneficial insects such as hoverflies, the larvae of which eat up to 150 aphids per day before they mature into flying adults. Coriander is the seed of the cilantro plant.

Exotic honey notes
I tried this aromatic honey in place of the golden syrup in my recent version of flapjacks (better than any granola bar) from the recipe in the wonderful book about a charming Scottish bakery—the book and bakery are called Aran, by Flora Shaddan. This honey adds a mysterious taste that is wonderful. It’s subtle and pronounced at the same time.
